I have a hammer coral that seems to have grown a few "legs" longer than the rest. It would appear that these longer legs are ment to attack near by coral. I have lost some red mushrooms, they totally melted. They were near this coral. So I moved it.

Now where I moved them to is 3 inchs away from some zoas and I am seeing that these rough legs are getting longer, seeming to be reaching out to "zap" the Zoas.

Is this normal or am I just seeing things that are not really there.

I will try to get some pics later tonight but has anyone seen this behavior before?

Typically referred to as sweepers, and yes it's common.

Yep. Euphylia's tend to be pretty aggressive and will definitely extend sweepers to zap a neighbor.

Yeah, it happens. Try to isolate it away from other corals.
