So I woke up this morning to find the crown of my feather duster laying on the sand. the crown did have something attached to it that was like an inch long I don't know if it was the worm or if it was just a part of the crown. Should I remove the tube?

they have been known to drop their feathers and regrow them. I would wait to see if this happens.

I've never had it happen to mine, but I've read that can be a defense mechanism. Has something changed recently in the tank, something start to pick on it?

I have read that if they are not happy where they are they will leave there tube, move and start a new tube. I agree with Lynn, I would wait and see what happens.

About half the time, they will regrow. It does show that the animal was under stress of some kind, perhaps malnutrition.
