Hi there.. I am just setting up a 220 Gallon display 72"x24"x30H" FOWLR tank and am having a little issue. I filled the tank with fresh water over a period of 3 days and completed the plumbing.. After the pumps were running for a couple of hours I noticed that all 4 seams on the tank were white with what looked like condensation. I spoke to the fish store and he advised that this is fairly normal and it is just the silicone "stretching"
On certain parts of the 1/2" seam the white haze was almost the whole way across. I drained the tank as recommended and the seams slowly cleared back up. Tank is almost perfectly level (water is 1mm higher over 6') and supported by 14 joists with 4 steel jack stands in the crawlspace.
My question would be is this indeed normal and is there anything I can do when I slowly fill it to help keep the seams clear (thinking of heating the water). The store advised that they may stay white (looks horrible). I have done a fair bit of searching and can't find any info on this. Still new picture posting but I can email them to anyone if they need to see it. Thanks
