I recently was given a 20x20x10 (LxWxH)

It is a very shallow tank but has a wide footprint considering.

For this reason i am asking for some help putting together a DIY LED kit for this tank.

I want the ability to keep anything. but not focused mainly on SPS.

A lot of the tnak will be softies, and i am really looking for the best POP that i can get without it being completely blue.

Need some help on heatsinks and LED counts etc.

Whatever you can recommend i appreciate!

I believe 36 LED with 18" heatsink will do the job- I would look on refledlights.com

If 10inches is the height of the tank you can definitely get away with less then 36LEDs. And the HS doesn't have to be 18inches long. I have a standard ten gallon. And I made my led fixture. The tank is 20in long and my heatsink is 9in. I think I would do 18-24 LEDs depending on budget and layout.

Check out rapidled.com, ledsupply, nanotuners, heatsink USA.
