My cycle is done and I want to start slow.I am looking to have a reef tank with mainly coral anemones and just a few fish.so what should I add first? Snails? Crab? A shrimp? Coral? Id love to start with a anemone but is that too soon?all advice welcome.

I would personally start with a Clean Up Crew. Possibly I would start with some small chromis to build a bacteria population. Then after a couple months of water changes and getting the algae controlled and everything established I would go with some cheap frags to start if they do well then I would move to more expensive corals.

Clean up crew, clown fish pair, soft corals like mushrooms... All are well suited to start off a tank. No anemone until the tank stabilizes, usually the six month mark or later.

what size is the tank?

as jeff really, and after a year or so if you still decide you want a nem make sure you are nem proof, all phs and outlets covered etc.

I would also hesitate on an anemone. What kind of lighting do you have on this tank? Some hardy fish and a handful of snails may be a good addition at this point (such as the clown recommendation).

4 cerths and 4 turbos would be a good start for a 30 gal.

go to reefcleaners.org and buy a pre-made CUC for a 10 or 15 g since your tank doesnt have much to munch on.
