Just wondering what would be the best camera for shooting pictures through glass? I obviously want to get better pictures of my tank and when I visit aquariums. I have heard that DSLR is the way to go. Is this the best advice? Any suggestions for a beginner?

Doesn't matter what camera you use. None are better than another to "shoot through glass". DSLR's have an advantage to deal with the color hues you'll often get shooting tanks (if it captures in RAW format). Some P&S have RAW too.

Sorry, that is probably not that much help to you. You should do some more research and post once you have things narrowed down some and a general idea of what you want. SOme of the Stickies at that top of this section have great info. There was also a thread not too long ago with an excellent write up on Aquarium Photography. Go back a few weeks in the posts and you'll find it.
