I have a 180G in my basement beside the furnace. My problem recently because the hot outside and the AC has been on most of the day. The cold air trapped in the basement and near my tank. The water temperature is 75 during the day and 73 at night. Is that too low? My heater has been constantly on and doesn't seems like it can keep up with the AC cold air staying in the basement. I wonder if anyone has this issue and how you deal with it.
Thanks,

What size heater? Maybe add a second one?

180G might justify investing in a controller of some type....there is the Ranco, but for 100 bucks-ish you can get a RKL (which does more functions besides heating/cooling) ....
I'm not 100% familiar with it, but I'm guessing it could run a couple of 300W heaters....
I'm partial to Ebo-jaegers but there are others....

You're going nto have to double up on heaters. I have the same problem in the winter time at night since my tank is in an add on room and not hooked up to central heat/ac.

I have the Apex controlling the heater. I think adding another heater is a no brainer but my thought is I am cooling the house with the AC and at the mean time heating the water with heater. I just found that kind of ironic and my electric bill will tell me that :-) However, I guess thats the only way to get around this. I am turning up the thermosat at night but lower it down a bit more during the day to reduce that freezing effect at night. Thank you everyone for the input.

Yeah, I run 2 heaters also. Especially if one gives out.

I have a 180 and run a jager 300 watt as my main heater and a jager 250 as a helper/backup heater.
