Specs- 30 gallon, Hob skimmer, canister filter just running carbon and phos-sorb. 1 power head.
Flame Angel, Diamond watchman goby, green goby, spawning pair of Ocellaris clowns, lawnmower blenny, many crabs, snails, etc.
Multiple corals I can go through if you want but just ask if you have a question on anything in particular. Yes I'm aware of the bryopsis in the middle of the tank but I use that as my nutrient export. It doesn't spread and I keep it in check with magnesium dosing. Let me know what you think!

Looks good but the anemone on the left is bleached out. Is it new to the tank?

no.. He's actually 3 years old. I posted in the anemone forum about it and we're thinking it's temp related. He eats well and has been in that same area of the tank since I put him in so I'm thinking he'll brown back up once I get the temp situation under control. He did the same thing about this time last year so we're guessing since it's a warmer time of year and I just found out that my temp probe is way off that he'll be ok.

What kind of light is the nem under?

Yes. And what temperature situation?

Running PC lighting. I change the bulbs every 5-6 months. 2x 65watt. The nem normally doesn't look like this. I've been messing with my temp a lot for the last month or so thinking that my heater was starting to go bad. I checked my temp with a calibrated thermometer against the thermometer that I have in my tank and I was running about 10 degrees warmer than I thought I was. I'm back to feeding the nem weekly with squid and shrimp and I'm sure he'll be fine. Last test parameters were:
Ph:8.3
Nitrates:.1
Alk: 2.8
Phos:0 (mostly due to algae taking it out I would suppose)
Cal:440
Mag:1920

SG:1.025

In a small tank Anemones won't do well with temp swings. 2 x 65w PC is too little light for the anemone. I would suggest stepping up to a small HO T5 fixture or retrofit.

Your magnesium is way too high. You shouldn't need any more than around 1220. Do you dose? What salt are you using...Oceanic by chance?

Nem is fine 11 months out of the year. He get a little bit of natural sunlight too. I'm dosing the Kent Tech M trying to get the bryopsis under control. It does seem to be working. I was under the impression that 1900 is kind of the high end for Mag. I use Coralife salt.

It's a bit too high for my liking. Your nuisance algae is a combination of the pc and natural sunlight along with water parameters.

Your anemone would do better with stronger lighting. What's your temp run during the day, and how often do you do water changes?

thanks for sharing the pix.

Some thoughts/suggestions (some of which you might already be aware of):
*sunlight is one of the best things you have going for your aquarium
*84F temp max
*point powerhead at water surface to create ripples and open up top of aquarium
*IME most Angelfish love to pick at Blastomussa- especially RED
*move green shrooms downwards away from Turbinaria
*Heliofungia (plate coral) requires special care... you might want to keep it away from Protopalythoa and other corals

JMO but in an aquarium like this algae growth doesn't bother me as much as coral growth. That is to say coral growth is more important than the presence of algae. I think it's a good idea to use algal growth for export. I don't think it's a great idea to try and control it by manipulating Mg.
GFO would definitely be a better option.
