i was on a reef mission the other day and received a bag of this for nothing http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=black+beauty+abrasives&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=14781544499912648180&sa=X&ei=sRkZTvbMLqj10gHZ-_GWBQ&ved=0CD0Q8wIwAg this was acquired through my talks of black moon sand for my new displays with a fellow reefer . now ... 2 things . i didnt know the reefer , and the bag is new ! he said he used it in his last reef setup (years ago) which ultimately failed due to lack of care , in his words . on first inspection ...its coal slag ! i have read about the silicates not being the monster once thought but hmmm .. now correct me if im wrong (i got a free bag ) but isnt this a form of carbon and wouldnt that just be a strange battle of a cycle :hammer:.... thoughts please !
