...because when I got home from dinner tonight I found my RBTA split into 2!

this was him just 2 nights ago...i didn't even notice he was on the verge of splitting

That means you are doing something wrong. Not right. They usually split if they are not happy or if threatened. Mine split when it got stung by my bubble coral.

water parameters are stable and i target feed that anemone mon-wed-fri with a mixture of mysis and silversides...he's been eating like a champ and hasn't moved from that same spot in the last month and a half...he's the only thing on that side besides an orange sponge so nothing could have stung him

This is not a correct statement. Nems can split for any number of reasons. Yours probably did more damage to the bubble coral than the other way around. Mine have split right around March Madness time eac of the last three years. It can indicate stress, but it is also how they reproduce and can indicate it is content in your tank.

To the O.P., congrats on the split. Don't let others discourage you and make you think things are wrong when most likely things are just fine.
