I found this Asterina on the front glass tonight, and it looks like it's splitting. I've got a million of the little guys in my tank, but I've never found one in the act of splitting in two.

Very cool! Thanks for posting.

I've never witnessed this either. Considering how many tanks are riddled with these stars its kind of surprising.

I also have these in my tanks, but have _never_ seen them split. Maybe they only do it at night, or are reluctant to do it on the glass?

Thanks everyone. I was surprised how quickly it split The whole process only took 20 minutes or so, which may be part of the reason why people don't see it happen often.

Nice picture. If you want to rid your tank of them, Harlequin shrimp will work wonders.
