Here some pictures of some red algae that appeared sometime ago, is it cyano?, I see some mini bubbles algae that I only see with a macro shot from my camera...

No. This is Anotrichum barbatum (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=585144).

Its not cyano, typically cyano is described as being slimy and that appears to be branching out. I have had what I thought to be Anotrichum barbatum in the past and I dont remember it branching out like that? Maybe its just because the picture is so close-up... What about something likt Ochtodes sp. or Jania sp?

Is it hard to the touch?

Is it growing quickly?

Is it a hitch hiker and how long has it been in the tank?

Maybe someone will chime in with a positive ID.

Yes its semi-hard, its not slimy. Its not easy to take that off, you have to scrub hard with your nail. Its not growing that fast. I have it for around 3 weeks. Without the macro picture its really hard to see the branch. I have it in a few spot in the tank not only on the rock, plastic too, ex; circulation pumps, seems to grow only on coraline though.

It will probably be easier to identify once it grows out a little more. Or if your worried about it spreading, isolate it or get rid of it now. :uzi:

Not conclusive by any means, but Jania sp. is a type of branching coraline: http://www.boldsystems.org/views/taxbrowser.php?taxid=155848

Yes it's very typical for this algae to branch out like that. In fact, that's how it grows. It will be a mistake to think until it grows out a little more. It won't grow much taller than that but will branch out at a fast rate.

Here are a couple more pictures from the thread I posted above:

Another common name for this algae is just red turf but people like to refer to red turf in many different type of similar algae.

Great pic, looks like it could be the OP could early stages of Anotrichum barbatum. I dont think I ever looked at it so closely.
