45g cube.. It has begun.

Well after a whole lot of nonsense, I finally have my tank running and just about the way I want it. The tank is a 45g RR cube with a ~9g sump. Currently have an 8 X 54 watt T5 fixture over the tank, and planning a DIY LED build in the near future. I'm using a SWC Xtreme 150 BMK Protein Skimmer. I have two mp10w es' in the tank and am currently using an Aquatronica controller. There's about 40 lbs of live rock in the display and another 25lbs in the sump. There's 60lbs of sand in the tank and here's the current inhabitant list

I just added a cleaner shrimp, a couple blasto frags, an awesome purple sea fan, a bunch of awesome acan frags, and a nice sized pink birds nest. Sorry about the quality, they were rushed before I left the house. I just wanted to have something to post... It seems the only free time I have lately is after the lights are out ha.

Haha theres a ton of snails for sure! John at reefcleaners hooked it up as usual. Its great though, they do a number on algae build up. I just wish those damn nassarius snails would stop stealing food from my acans and lobo everytime i feed! Haha, thanks for the kind words

Nice start on the tank. I hate when the snails and crabs go all over the corals on the bottom when I feed. Another thing you going to hate are the cerith snails when they go into the vortech, especially at night and jam up the propeller.

Haha John did the same for my BC 29, last night I counted 47 small cerith snails on the front glass of my BC 29 alone, and I am pretty sure that there are babies now also. Might have to give some away or put them back in the bay.

Just some updates, got an Apex Jr on the tank now. It's a learning process but I'm definitely liking all the new features and capabilities. I have an EB8, PM2 and a conductivity(Salinity) probe on the way too. Can't wait for that to get here, and the best part is it's all controllable on my iphone! If only I could figure out how to configure my router and set it up on the internet, and not just my local network...

Got a couple new additions, A Blue Spot Jawfish, Tail Spot Blenny, A coco worm, and a Christmas feather duster. Also put in my DIY Jawfish house and like how things look now. I just placed a HUGE order with AquaSD, can't freaking wait until Wed. Also have box full of Apex accessories coming tomorrow including an EB8, PM2, and a conductivity probe! It's going to be a good week for the tank :wink:

Thanks! Those are actually Dendrophyllia, same family but way cooler IMO. I just got them from Aqua SD. They're always open, and might just be my new favorite thing in the tank.

They are so nice. I have dendros in my tank as well. Mine are yellow. But yours are just out standing. Good luck with your new tank.
