Hi All,

Thanks in advance.

I'm about to get a new Golden Dwarf Moray and add him to an established system. I plan to acclimate, dip & quarantine him. Typically, I do a freshwater dip, which includes methyl blue to all newly arrived fish. The dip lasts for about 20 minutes. My understanding is that eels are more sensitive to chemicals in the water.

Is there any problem doing a freshwater / methyl blue dip to an eel? Would you take any extra precautions?

20 minutes sound like longer than I would be comfortable with for any fish. I would do 10 minutes tops. Pay close attention to the ph's of your tank and the dip container, you want to match them as close as possible to limit any unnecessary stress to the eel. Also, don't let the water get very deep unless your container is well covered because it will probably try to jump.

I think he's doing fine. He did try to jump. I think the GDM is a pretty tough fish.

I did Cupramine and 2 treatments of Prazipro for mine and they are fine.
