Hanna Checker - Cannot remove Cuvette Cap

Maybe I'm just stupid but the caps on my new phosphate checker cuvettes are impossible to remove. Feels like they are super glued into the cuvettes. Any help? seriously i used tweezers, credit cards, nothing will get this thing off, can't budge it, can't twist it or pull it out.

I used needle nose pliers to remove and then discarderd. Caps were very tight & did not see any reference to them in the docs. Not sure why they are included... I find you can't use them & the black caps at the same time. BTW - the ALK checker did not have the caps.

Hope you have good success with the unit and don't need Hanna support in this forum. Seems like it's pay your $50 and then you're on your own. They seem to reply quickly when people say how great the product is however.

The little plastic caps are dust inserts, to keep debris out of the cuvet. The cuvets and caps are made on separate production lines (since one is glass and one is plastic), so until they are combined they put the insert in.
I also find them very difficult to remove, and I've cursed them on any number of occasions! Pliers do work best to get them out.

I finally managed to get it out with a combination of pliers xacto knife and screwdrivers.

However I did not receive the black caps with the phosphate checker. Is this normal? I've seen the caps sold separately online for $5 each + shipping which is an absolutely ridiculous price.

The black caps are included on the Phos & Alk units... imagine on all others too.

I found on my earlier Hanna kits(initial release), that the black caps would not seal the curvette without the white insert in place and with the white insert the meter won't completely close. Sample leaks out while shaking on these early kits without the insert.
