I'm currently cycling my first saltwater setup. I have 120 lbs of reef saver rock from BRS, about 3 lbs of live rock from a friend, and threw in a dead shrimp for good measure lol. I also have carbon and gfo running (not sure if I should while cycling)
Anyway, it's been 10 days, and figured I'd get higher measurements than I am from when I started. Does this look right?
7-7-11
Salinity - 1.023
PH - 8.0 - 8.3
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0
Ammonia < .25
7-17-11
Salinity - 1.023
PH - 8.0 - 8.3
Nitrite - 0 - 0.1
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0
Ammonia - 0.25 - 0.5

Looks like you are at about the end of your cycle since the ammonia is high. Why the variation on the pH?

Looks like it's progressing as it should.
how large is the tank itself?
suggestion: I like to see a specific gravity a little closer to 1.026 as it's matched better to actual saltwater but many run tanks fine at 1.023.
btw, i'ma picture junkie, wheres our cool picture of the setup so far? :)

The end of the cycle is when ammonia goes down to zero. If it is still rising, then you have some time to go.

The test kit I have shows the reading in ranges like that for the PH. So, how often should I be testing? And I should just wait for the ammonia to go to 0?

end of the cycle is when nitrites and ammonia are zero :P

Thanks! I definitely couldn't have done it without the support of this forum. I've learned soooo much here. If you're interested, here's my build thread I started when I began back in Januray. I definitely took my sweet time... haha
