Would you recommend these two items to run an 18gal CAD Lightings, is the skimmer oversized with no skimmate produced or CO2 from Ca++ reactor overwhelm the pH of such small water volume, thanks.

I run that skimmer and it's a pretty big skimmer. Excellent quality and function. Not sure how well it would fit your tank though.

How big is your tank, I have no sump so it would basically be hanged on the back of the 18g, there is about 2.5" to nogotiate front back in the filter area.

I run mine on a 29gal Nano cube.

Here are the dimensions according to marine depot of that skimmer. L 7.5 x W 3.5 x H 17 Inch

The outlet and inlet pipes for the skimmer would probably fit fine in that space. I didn't have any problems. I was just thinking about how big it would look hanging on your tank. Sorry for my first misleading first post. If you are fine with a large skimmer hanging off the back of your tank then this is a great skimmer. I have no complaints.

As far as a calc reactor, I think dosing and water changes would be a simple more cost-effective method. If money isn't really a concern then a calc reactor would be a little less hassle.
