Emperor Aquatics Skimmers experience?

I was able to get my hands on an emperor aquatics skimmer for cheap. anybody have any experience with them? good? bad? noisy? tuning? anything at all helps.

I have one of the really (really really) old ones. Big white PVC thing. When you can dial it in, it works great, but it was a complete and total pain to dial in, and gets out of alignment really easily. When it isn't setup right, it just plain doesn't work. I don't use it at all anymore.
