both look dang cool, for me #1....2 Q's tho:
1) How you glueing the rock/keeping it from falling?
2) I see no ledges to support larger corals, you plan on using small frags or what are you planning on putting in there?

#2 , I think it looks more natural . I think the rocks fit better in #2 harder to see each small rock.

1) Most of the rocks are self supporting but there are a few (mostly the arch) that I will epoxy when I get them in their final place.
2) Tank #1, on the right side is a big ledge just hard to see. I am planning on using frags and letting them grow in. Plan on mix reef on tank #1. Tank #2 I am planning on mostly soft stuff because that is what my wife likes plus I want to keep non reef safe fish in that tank.

I am planning on that tank being my mixed reef tank so I worked hard to make sure to have places to put corals and in different light conditions.

I agree, that it looks more natural, that is the same thing my wife said. I guess the rocks just wanted to go together better... Tank #2 will be my non reef safe tank although I am planning on putting some soft stuff in there. My wife likes the soft corals so that will be her tank to stock.

#2 by far. Two islands work much better.

I think they both look great and appreciate the time you put into it--Nice Job!

It's tough for me to choose one because I would be happy with either, but my vote is for number 2. I do like 2 islands.

I like #1. More caves and more room for coral placement. Also looks like #1 would have better flow throughout the whole system than #2.

You may have just motivated me to aquascape my own tomorrow. I really like both of them a lot!

Thansk for the vote, for sure I was going for the "lots of caves" look and realy worked to get places to put corals.

I also like the 2 island look. Good thing for me is that I dont have to choose, I get to keep both.

I like both, just I probably like 1 the most. I'm kinda jealous! Mine were live rock when i tried to aquascape so I had to keep them submerged in water, it made it a million times harder

That was the plan for the most part. #1 will be my mixed reef tank and #2 will be my wifes non reef safe tank with some soft corals.

Agree!!! so much easier to aquascape with the dry rock. Took about 2 weeks of playing and then letting it sit then come back to it and work again. Then have the wife add her thoughts. This set up has been up for 2 weeks now so I think we have a winner.

I agree the first one seems like it would have more places to put coral, but the second one is really cool very similar to my set up.
