Hi,
I saw a beautiful tank at someone's house that had a ton of miniature fan worms in the refugium and also some in the display tank. He said that he used mud in his refugium, but that really didn't help me much. Since he spoke with really heavy accent, I couldn't make out what he was saying. I Googled around and found that there was a type of fan worm that lives in refugiums. I'm guessing this is what they were.

Can someone please help me answer these questions:

Where do these worms come from? Do I have to seed a culture?

I currently have chaeto and rubble in the middle compartment of my tank for pods. Would adding this mud to it help with the colonization of these fascinating fan worms? If so, how deep of a bed do I need?

Thanks a bunch.

Does this mud come pre-seeded with the worms, or will I need to get a culture from somewhere?

And does this mud work in a refugium that's about 8"length x 2"wide x 10"tall ?

most all fan worms like it where it's dirty :) I would assume the mud would draw them there. I know mine in my tank like to hang out where they can grab the most food.

and I doubt the worms would be in the mud. Mine came from my liverock.

If my system doesn't come with any (or perhaps my 6line wrasse decimated their population) is there a place where I can buy a culture to seed?
