Im thinking about buying a Cataphyllia from australia (According to the LFS)

Do you guys think my light will be enough? I have 3*9W Leds over the tank and i suspect about 12 inches of water between the surface and sand bottom!

Hey Daniel, I haven't had a cataphyllia, elegance coral?, but always wanted one. Someone with experience in keeping one can give you a better answer, but I dont think just the leds will allow it to really thrive. From what I've heard they need moderate lighting, maybe 2 t5s?

My elegance coral is kept under 48 3 watt Cree leds. 20 XP-G R5 Whites and 28 XP-E Royal Blues. 120 gallon tank.

I have a huge elegance size of a football that keep growing under 2 250w MH. I dont know if that will be enough light.

i went for it. It seems to do pretty okey.

i have lowered the flow around it (Should like a little less) and feeding it, but i saw today that the Cataphyllia have taken a Bristle worm? Not eaten it just killed it!

I will upload a picture later.

FWIW I kept a beautiful Elegance under an old Solaris LED fixture in a 24" deep tank. It thrived just fine.
