I was looking in my tank and saw this thing that looks to be like a really big flatworm. It is about 1.5 long and flat. I asked my LFS and she told me that it was a bristol worm. Can someone else please advise me on what it could be and what I should do? Its still in my tank right now but I dont know where it is.

Definitely not a bristle worm... Polyclad flatworm maybe?

definatly not a bristleworm lol. I googled polyclad flatorms and came across a picture that looked similar. seems a good place to start looking, but I havn't a clue. Never seen anything like that in my tanks.

I would find it a new home.
From this link there are pics
(http://www.ronshimek.com/flatworms.html)
"Polyclad flatworm are larger animals than those pictured above, and have a branched gut that is often visible inside the animal. The name "polyclad" means "many branches and refers to the many visible branches off of the central part of the gut. These worms may exceed several inches in length, although those seen in aquaria are not generally over a couple of inches long. Polyclads are generally thought to be predatory, often on small worms, crustaceans, but also occasionally in aquaria, snails and clams."

Yeah I plan on taking it out but now I have to find it. Any ideas on how to get them out to the open?

Try adding a small amount of food late at night and see if it come out. Keep the lights off in the room and look into the tank with a red filter over a flashlight. It should come right out.

They are nocturnal so your best bet is to scope out the tank either late after lights out or pre-dawn.

I found one late at night crawling on our glass. Check every night about 4 hours after lights out.
