I know this has been asked before...but I am going to ask again...
I am setting up a 75 gallon softie LPS nem tank and would love to add mp-somthing to the mix...

so my question is what would work best for me...I will not have any SPS ok may be one or two supper easy ones i might try but mostly LPS nem and softies I am looking for the back and forth sway...

so would two mp10 synced up be better than 1 mp40? option 1

option 2- one MP40

option 3- one mp40 and wait 6 mothns and get one more

option 4 one mp40 then ad mp10 as slave in 3-4 months

option 5 none of the above and save my $$ for AL sol LED

would love to hear from ppl that have similar sized tanks...
cheers

If you want your corals to sway back and forth I'd recommend two mp10w es's.

I have a 75 gallon tank, and I have 2 mp10wes, that are both on my 40 gallon breeder. I got curious and filled up my 75 gallon and stuck my 2 10's on it just to see if it would work. I plan to upgrade to this tank eventualy. There was plenty of flow in the 75 gallon. I would do 2 mp10w es, plus your return pump will be enough.

that is what I was thinking too I will be running a quite one 4000 return pump.1017 GPH so with 3 -4 feet of head will be pushing around 770ish GPH
pretty hard choose between 2mp10 or 1mp40...

i think if i went with 2 mp40 I would most likely run them @ 50-75% anyway

Two 10s is not enough imo...I have one 40 and one 10 (run at 50%) and its perfect for my 75G

I'd go with two mp10's. I have an mp40 and a Tunze 6045 in my 75 and the mp40 is dialed back to around 40%. Wish I would have originally gone with two mp10's

ok getting some mixed reviews here but it does seam like the mp10 are on top for now..
if I go w/ 2 mp10 should/would I have to run they @ 100%? and if so, is that loud or will it shorten the life span of the PH in any way?

You will be running two 10s near max and still not have the flow of a SINGLE 40. You will hear them whine and the lifespan will shorten running at max all the time. Mp40 is awesome in a 4 footer. Many people run two 40s in a 4 footer. One 40 and one 10 both running at 50% is quiet, and will increase lifespan of the motors. If you get two 10s you are locking yourself into your current tank size as those two 10s won't be enough for anything bigger in the future if you upgrade tank size...

would one mp40 be OK = enough flow on the tank for 4-6 months till I can get an mp10?
will the mp40 and mp10 link up?

you can go with the mp40, and throw a cheap power head on the other side till you can afford something else.

You won't even be able to run a single 40 full strength in a 75 softie tank without it being TOO MUCH flow!....at least is the case in mine. Get one 40 for now, you will not be dissapointed and be glad you did later!

Yes the sizes don't mattter...my 40 and 10 run in anti synch reef crest mode I agree with the 40 and a 10, with carefull coral arrangement it is the best option. I would also buy used equipment from here and maybe you have enough left over to treat yourself to a nice led set-up when all said and done.
