I cracked one of the legs that hold the fixture above the tank. It appears that I need to remove the splash guard in order to slide the support leg out so I can epoxy it back together, I just can't figure out how to get it out. If all you have to do is slide it out then mine might just be salt locked in but I didn't want to break it by forcing it out if there might be screws or tabs holding It in

Thanks in advance

Thanks that's what I thought I couldn't see anything in the way to stop it from sliding out, the salt creep may just be making it difficult to pull through

+1

Theres a black tab/strip at the end that goes flush with the fixture you should be able to pull on or rock back and forth till it comes out.

maybe take a little bit of water and drip a bit in the channel. That might help desolve the salt creep enough to help you get it out.

Thats strange. I have the 6 bulb nova extreme and my fans are dead quiet. I have it running on my tanks in my living room and I don't even need to turn up the volume on my tv. Maybe theres some dust or something causing vibrations or something? IDK.

My fans are pretty quiet as well.

Fans are an issue with this model. I have a 4 bulb nova extreme and the fan is crazy loud!. If I can hang it higher and remove the splash guard, I'll turn off the fan. I've heard others saying it's okay to not even run it.

My NEP was very loud with stock fans. People are very subjective to noise levels. For me it was not going to work at stock noise levels in my living room and I didn't want to do a mod to use 12v fans instead of the stock 120v ones.

I replaced the fans with these http://shop.willyselectronics.com/browse.cfm/orion-ac-120v-fan-w-tabs:-80mm-x-25mm-13cfm-20db-/4,7105.html

Still enough airflow and much quieter, but not silent.
