What are pros and cons to raising a File Fish. I was told I could use it to control some type of unwanted anemone

You're talking about the Matted file fish, also known as an aiptasia file fish. While they will eat the aiptasia, they are a moderate care fish and are known to nip at both soft and stony corals.

Can you give some more information about your tank and your specific problem?

^ What Adrienne said. If you have aiptasia anemones in your tank and can't control them another way, i'd recommend this fish.

I've had one for about 2 years, it's a great fish but it likes to "sample" everything in the tank. Unless he knows I'm watching. Not kidding.

Have you tried just killing them?

I totally believe you, Mikey - they are smart and sneaky.

What size tank is it? How long have you had it set up? How bad are the aiptasia? What are you parameters? Etc, etc. :)

Give the little guy a break! He's obviously looking for pests that would harm the coral. Just look at that sweet innocent face, you should be ashamed of yourselves!

 he looks so guilty, all the time. I caught him biting a frogspawn once, and pounded on the glass with my fist, then glared at him. It's funny, when I scold him, his dorsal spine goes down and he looks up at me with is articulatable eyes, like a dog that just got caught in the garbage.
