I have a 2 inch Hippo tank in a 6' 120...does that count? Seriously though this thread could get ugly fast. I had the 2 incher in a 20 gal quarantine and he was NOT happy.

I have a Blue Hippo and a Yellow Tang in a 120 48"x24" sharing quarters with a Six-Line and a Purple-Striped Dottyback. Some would say that Hippie is going to get too big for this tank.

Don't know why the last post didn't take the picture. Here it is.
This pic is when the tank was 5mo. old
The yellow candy hogfish is gone now (came up missing) and was replaced w/ the dottyback.

What exactly are you trying to prove? That people employ bad husbandry for their fish despite advice to the contrary?

Yeah, I think I'm done too. I mean it's a 4foot 120g but Hippie has the potential to reach 10" and Tangy can get to about 6" so I think...
1 Blue Hippo Tang (Hippie)
1 Yellow Tang (Tangy)
1 Six-Line Wrasse (Heresy)
1 Purple-Striped Dottyback (Dotty)
Yellow Candy Hogfish (Hoggie) R.I.P.

...this is enough fish, time to start stuffing coral in there now.

im not trying to prove anything. but if i were trying to prove somethin it would be on the side of the people who put the tangs in there tank.
i had a friend who put a yello tang in a ten gallon nano. while i think its crazy, honostly i dont care.

im an instigater and have to entertain myself somehow, imean what else is there to do.

I don't think being an "instigater" is welcome in RC. I am open to debate and new ideas, but this is not cool IMHO.

Oh yeah, and you can spell check here too. It's ok.

Guess I am an instigatOR too.....:reading:

Yeah, no, since Brob has confirmed that the purpose of this thread was to troll - closed.

So something positive can come from this thread, I suggest all newbies take a look at the Recommended Tank Sizes for Tangs (Surgeonfishes) (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1946007) sticky that our Team RC members spent an incredible amount of time compiling from many different sources. Its by no means an end all, be all list but it is a good starting point for those curious about recommended tang tank sizes.
