I am going to be setting up my 180 gallon tank for a reef in the near future.. I need help and advice on the skimmer. I don't have a ton of money right now but really want a good skimmer and know they are important.. I have a 75 gallon tank that I am hoping to use as a sump so the only limits may be height as I hop to get the 75 in the bottom of the 180 stand.. I have been trying to reD up as much as possible about skimmers and know that there are a bunch of them and quite a few of them aren't worth the money.. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

OCTX-200

Modified cone design, not the best pump but decent, and under $300. I have one in my 90 with room for future growth.

i run a swc300 and love it. it was noisy for the first week but now is much better. i picked it up for 500$ shipped. is it is way overkill for my tank but i feed very heavily and have zero nitrates on my 220g tank with a lot of fish.

I use a reef octopus 300 internal on mine and love it. Its made for up to 300 but will be good for a decent load. Top comes off nice for easy cleaning and built pretty solid. I got mine on sale from aquacave for 250

Octopus SRO-3000 internal got from aquacave on sale. Keeps my 180 gallon with no detectable nitrates and phosphate doing monthly water changes. Fish stocking list blond Naso Tang 5", Blue hippo tang 4 1/2", pair false percula, pink spotted goby, pair kaudern's cardinals, royal gramma, trio of green cromis, and pair of skunk cleaner shrimp.

ATI Powercone 250. I have a powercone 200 and it is fantastic. All my friends compared it with their skimmers and said that my ATI is the best.
