Which powerhead should I choose? 65gallon (5ft long, 1 foot wide, 1.75 tall)

Hydor Koralia Evolution Circulation Pump/Powerhead 750 gph $36

or

Tunze Turbelle NanoStream Pump 6025 660 gph $63

or do I need to go bigger...cost is somewhat of a factor...(setting up a tank for my high school classroom)

Thanks

How much flow do you want? You might be disappointed with either one if you want alot of flow....I have two Koralia 1050s in a 60 gallon, and they put out alot of flow, all the detritus remains in suspension.

However, just between these two, go with Tunze for the quality...I think the water pattern is more dispersed on the Tunze than the Hydor. But then again (LOL), you could get two hydors and their new pump controller (which is supposed to be about 60 bucks and coming out this month) to have the pumps alternate back and forth....

i prefer the koralia. i have two 750 and a 1400 in my 90 and the fish get banged off the glass. ok maybe not that much flow but its nice. i think the key is to get a few smaller ones than 1 big one so you can direct what you want.

I had an MP40 and a K1400 in my 65. It depends on what you plan to keep, but I would go with more flow either way.

I have been very pleased with the flow of my Tunze on a 265.

I appreciate everyone's input. As far as quality, it seems that the Tunze is considered to be higher...I am new to this, so what makes a quality powerhead?

I would also be interested in this link, if you have one :)

thanks again

If money no object Tunze, otherwise
the new Hydor Smartwave with multiple Koralias is a great system.

I've got (2) Korallia 1400 and (2) Tunze 6045 on my 90G, and they are both great. The Tunze is more expensive, and has a bit tighter flow pattern, but is significantly more expensive. I got the Korallia's on sale at Big Al's for $46 each, and would highly recommend them. I'd also go at least this big on your tank as well, one on each end would probably suffice depending on how crazy you were planning to get with corals.
