I know there is a lighting forum but like the title says " I want a little personalized attention:D

Anyway, I have a chance to get a 2 X 175-Watt Single Ended Mogul metal halide pendant lights with dual PFO Ballast. Comes with 2 - Hamilton 14K bulbs that are 3 months old for $150. I want to use this to supplement my Dual T5 Aquatic life fixture. What do you think? My other option is to buy another Dual T5 Aquatic Life fixture and tie them together to get 4X54W bulbs which will be changed to either Giesmann or ATI bulbs.

Note: Moderators I understand if you have to move this. BTW, I already have a lighting thread going in the Lighting section.

I would always say go with the MH's & supplement with t-5 actinics, until this LED market becomes more competitive, has more years of proven success & the prices come down. I have used MH bulbs with great success for 15 years & counting. Good luck & happy reefing!

If heat's an issue go T5s.
If not the Hammy 175 14ks are great.

Does the heat issue depend on each particular tank and its enviornment, i.e. room temperature, and the height the pendants are hung?

yes, what does the tank run at w/o the lghts. mh will add a few degrees, but can be offset some by height of lights and fans.
