Hello! I have a 2x65 watt CF (One 65 Watt Dual Actinic Lamp (460nm/420nm) and one 65 Watt Dual Daylight Lamp (10,000K/6700K))

My tank is a 20g L (30x12x12 roughly)

Is this enough light to support SPS?

I would say lower light SPS on the top of the rocks will be okay. Don't expect great color or growth, but they should survive.

Thanks!

Any other thoughts from other people?

A 20L is quite shallow, so PC's should be able to support a limited number of SPS if placed high in the tank. Stay away from the $200 tort frags, and go with some stag or birdsnest and you should have some decent results....just keep the chemistry in spec, that's the most important part.

I think you will ultimately be disappointed with the light...I had a 4X65 watt over a 60 gallon, and always thought it looked dingy, although Porities and Montis grew like crazy....when you can, upgrade to T5s

Thanks for the help. I actually already have the light from my old tank I had set up a few years ago and was just wondering if it could support SPS. I eventually plan on upgrading it because I am not sure how much longer it will last, but I AM currently stuck with it.

I appreciate your help, but I already have the light like I mentioned above. If I upgraded I would most likely go LED. Thanks though.

So, I will be sticking with this light for a while.

Let me know if you know of any good colorful SPSs I could have! Much appreciated.

You likely would do well with a monipora cap, you can find them in orange, green and purple fairly regularly. I've seen them do well under PC's more times then not.

Birdsnest are normally very easy. In Texas frags go for $10
