Acrylic Cleaning ???

I use a mag cleaner with white pad to clean my glass regulerly (every 3 days) on occasion i do miss and after about 6/7 days crusty brown spots appear that then I need to scrape off with a plastic scraper/credit card.

What is causing this build-up (besides my laziness) and what is it? Brown coraline?


My parameters are all withing the normal operating ranges generally accepted here on RC.

Your paramaters im sure are within good range but there is still just enough to grow some algae on the pannels were the light is hitting them :). Its all normal and part of the hobby unfortunately. I have always used my Acrylic pad Magnavore 4ER and Kent plastic scraper with great success. I keep Kent scrapers handy bc soon as they start to bend out of shape I replace them. I had an incident many moons ago where the plastic snapped and I put a nice scratch int he acrylic lol.

Is your acrylic tank a bowfront? They are always slightly harder to get the algae off. I have a glass tank & clean the front pane every day, I don't have to but I am obsessed with it being perfectly clear.
