what kind of pvc cement or glue are guys using on your plumbing?

I use ACE brand.
pvc cement medium body
hot & fast adhesive

As far as safety is concerned, most all of the regular PVC cement is safe to use.

I use Weld-On primer and Weld-On PVC cement from Home Depot. After gluing, I let it cure for 24 hrs or so (or until the smell disappears). Primer is not required, but I decided to use it to minimize any leak problems (since I was new with PVC and cement).

+1 on the primer. might as well since its recommended. its really there for when you get a guy to inspect your water lines that its up to code when he sees that purple dye. but for your fish tank it doesn't matter. i just used it because i like to on all my pvc work. Primer, glue, then twist the fittings together back and forth to make a good seal, and then let it cure. should be good after a few mins.
