I am Egyptian, and as many of you may know, some of the most beutiful fish and corals come from the Red Sea in Egypt. Many butterfly fish and acroporas come form the Red Sea, and im proud to be an Egyptain Reefer.

My Grandma came over form egypt last month and she knew i had a tank. She went to her Beach house in the Sinai and she bought some of what i beleive is a dry Acropora. Is it safe to put in my tank. it also has a bit of glue that the seller did to put it together when it broke.

I do no want to upset her, so if i can put it in, please tell me so. Here are some pics.

No worries, put it in your tank & make Grandma happy! It will probably lose color & have algae growing on it, maybe you will get lucky & have coralline algae cover it.

I would put it in my tank. Neat looking piece.

That will turn into an additional piece of live rock!!! Awesome shape , you could make a nice bridge with that laid on top of some live rock on both ends!!!:spin1:

so it is absolutly safe to put into my tank? should i wash it first with some RODI water? Also, it would have to grow some bacteria on it right? how long would that take?

Sorry for all the questions lol

My concern would be the "glue" the seller used to put it back together. If it's regular superglue or silicon, then no worries. But if it's something else, it could turn toxic once put it water.

Soak it in water for a day...if the glue doesn't soften...it's likely just fine to put in the tank. If it does, just wash it off and re-glue it with some super glue.
