My starfish lost a leg?

Yesterday I purchased a 7 leg burgundy starfish. blended him for a good 2 hours and put him in the tank he walked around for awhile and now tonight I look in and one of his legs just fell off... However it seems to be taking a course of its own walking the other direction. Is this normal?

Starfish most certainly will regrow limbs. Not sure why it just 'fell off' unless of course it was because you put him in the blender. :D

I've heard of starfish growing into a clone from being sliced in half, but never from just a leg, but I'm not star expert.

Ya, I know they will regrow a limb and I've had stars in the past but I've never had one just have a leg drop off unless it was actually in the process of decomposing. This guy was just walking along the rock and plunk off a leg came and starts walking in the opposite direction. The large portion now with 6 legs still looks ok and so does the leg that detached. I will try and get pics when my lights come on
