Im sure this has been discussed here before but I just upgraded my tank and thought that someone out there would love to hear it. For those of us who LOVE pistol shrimp and goby pairs we all know how frustrating it is when they set up their home out of our view. My solution to this problem was making a home they couldnt refuse. Take PVC pipes and contruct them a home using elbows, tubing, a T joint, and the tilted elbows (45 degrees i guess). I usually construct a burrow with 3 entrances. I also drill small holes throughout the tubing (way too small for the shrimp to get through) to allow critters to get in and eat their poop (gross). Then simply burry it in the sand when you set up your tank. When you add your goby/shrimp place the shrimp in the tube and the goby will find him soon enough. This ensures that I can always see my pair whenever they are out.
