I have this test kit and I have a Deltec Nitrate reactor that is dosed with vodka. I have finally dropped my nitrates to 4 PPM and my phosates are about 16 I am using a expensive GFO in a reactor. Your lecture states that NO3PO4X can used with a nitrate reactor, does this mean that I dose the reactor directly instead of vodka or combination with? Thanks in advance

my phosates are about 16
Did you mean 16ppm or 0.16ppm?
What lecture are you referring to?

Aviad.

Sorry 0.16ppm Lecture In the box of the test kit Reef Care Program Algae Management Testing and Supplementing page 6 of the booklet " NO3PO4-X is recommended as a complete carbon source for use with carbon based de-nitrators"

I thought you meant a lecture in a convention.
NO3:PO4-X should be used, with a carbon based nitrate reactor, instead of vodka.
NO3:PO4-X is the carbon sorce.
You shouldn't use phosphate remover as the different methods for phosphate reduction will cause interference. [as said on page 6]
Hope I helped,
Aviad.

Thanks Aviad By the way does your product cause a bacterium mulm or it is like snot white slimy substance that builds up in the nitrate reactor. Thanks again

Hi,
It might cause a bacterial film coating the reactor, but not necessarily.

Good night,
Aviad.

Oh, another thing,
If the growth in the reactor is too intense it might indicate that either the flow rate through the reactor is not fast enough, or overgrowth due to lack of circulation inside the reactor.
The bacterial flocks need to come out of the reactor and out of the system by the protein skimmer.
Since you still have NO3 I would try to increase the flow out of the reactor.
Tell me how it worked for you.
Take care,
Aviad.
