I would like to start a small frag tank. I have a spare ten gallon lying around, as well as a bunch of medium grain aragonite sand. What other supplies would I need to create a successful frag tank? More specifically, what kind of lighting would be adequate for soft/LPS corals?
Also, is it possible not to feed a frag tank so as to avoid nitrate problems?
Thanks for the advice.

I prefer a bare bottom on frag tanks, it makes cleaning a little easier. T-5 lighting will be fine on the tank, 2 bulbs minimum with just softies, but a 4 bulb set-up would be better. You will see some small die-off in the tank from fragging, so you do need to have some type of media to support bacteria. I've always used a small refugium with live rock on my frag tanks.

Thanks for the input. In terms of flow, how many gph do you think would be appropriate?

I would go with about 20 turn overs an hour for softies, so 200 GPH total flow. If you move into SPS corals, 30-40 turn overs.
