I have a 92 corner that is RBTAs and softies (zoas, shrooms) only. Looking at the MP10. Will this do anything in my tank? I was thinking of using 1 or 2. I dont need a lot of flow- my goal is to avoid dead spots.

I like the idea of 2 smaller pumps so I can avoid my rockwork, and not have a strong flow directly at my RBTAs. Also, a MP40 will not fit behind my tank, and I dont want to move the tank.

Any thoughts?

It won't be enough. Mp10 is good but just not enough for that size tank. You would have to constantly stir your sand and blow off your rock ork to keep things from settling.

thanks.

Just for reference, I currently have a maxi-jet sureflow that does about 1600gph. It does what I want as far as keeping things from settling, I dont like it because it is too large, adds heat, and has restart issues.

Since the MP10 goes up to 1500gph, I figure with 2 of them I would ad least match what I have with the maxijet, even if they are not at 100%

Is my thinking wrong?

not really...

The MJ sure flow is like a laser beam, with a very narrow flow. The Vortech on the other hand has a MUCH wider flow, so its much different than the MJ.

For that tank, just go get yourself a MP40. it should do. later on you can add a mp10 on the other side. There is no point of buying a mp10 right now, cause it wouldnt do much for you. save the money and get a mp40.

ok, I cannot use a MP40, it wont fit behind the tank, and if it did, it would need to be too close to the water line to run effectively.

I guess vortechs are out- any other ideas?

Can you not do the vortech on the side?

If you aren't dead set on a vortech, if you can fit a mp10 dry side behind your tank, you can fit the magnet of a tunze, so you could go that route, and you could aim it to the side to get a gyre going.

it is a corner tank, so the only side that could hold a pump are up against the wall.

How much room from the tank to the wall The Tunze magnets are only about a 1/2'' thick Does this tank have a overflow you could put the magnet in the overflow

I could fit the tunze magnets, just not a MP40. The MP10 would be tight.

The Hydor magnets are even thinner

I have a Tunze 6100 w/controller for sale that would be perfect for your tank. I have a 54g corner bowfront so I understand your mounting concerns. The sure grip magnet should fit between your tank and the wall and the Tunze will provide plenty of flow as I had to take it out of my 54g because it was much too strong. I replaced it with an MP10. You would need at least two, maybe even three MP10s on a 92g to equal the single Tunze 6100 flow.
