If you had the opportunity to choose, which one would it be? A 72"L x 72"W x 28"H (total height) with LED's, or a 120"L x 48"W x 30"H tank with LED's.

120" x 48". Theres nothing better than a long and wide tank. JMO

I would say 120x48x30 for a few reasons. One of them being, go with the biggest tank you can afford, which I am sure you know. The depth of 30" I am sure is obtainable with metal halides. That being said, reef LED lights, has their LED kits set up so you can buy the amount of LEDs to match the effect of metal halides. A second reason of my choice is that is my dream tank! Later down the road I plan on building a reef tank with those dimensions. The third being that the 120" of length you have will be much appretiated by tangs(if you want them). The aquascape has endless possiblilities with either tank. Can't wait to see what you decide!

I will end up building both eventually, just would like some idea of which one first, because the other will have to wait for a couple years.

with a 72x72 tank I think you would have problems accessing the middle. you would definately need a catwalk of some sort above it to lay on and work.

I definantly stick with the 120 by 48. My personal dream tank bigger maybe lol. I have seen the 120 by 48s and they look really good. The depth is amazing, plus you won't need a cat walk as you may need for the 72x72.
