The recommended water depth is 9.5 to 11 inches. Anyone run theirs any shallower? I have an 8 inch chamber at the moment.

I wouldn't. I run my NAC6 at 9.5" and the gate valve is at 3. I would imagine you would have to run it nearly closed if you water was at 8".

How long have you had it? It does take time to break in I noticed it took about a week or so for mine. The reccomended water height is not bad to start 10"-11'' but id did notice it was tough to fine tune it. I would recommend bringing raising the skimmer up in your sump on some pvc structure about 4'' so your skimmer is sitting in about 6-7'' inches of water. This will allow you to skim dryer if you want, if you want wet skim drop it back down to 10-11''. Itll work both ways.

Also whatever changes you make let it sit for a couple days and try to keep the water level stable in your sump. This will give it a chance to work at the setting and water level you choose.

Mine is at about 9" and run it at about 3 on the wedge pipe, skims fairly dark but not too dry. If i want to skim dry I usually put it at like 2 but at that point i collect a lot on the neck! So my nice medium is at 3.

BM 180CS BEAST!!! thinking of changing the pump to a sicce to pull a bit more air.

I run my BM 180A in about 8-8.5'' and get a dark, fairly dry skimmate.
