Going to wind up replacing their shitty bulbs right off the bat, either go Tek or if you have the $ ATI

Is that the only downside with this fixture? I don't mind replacing the bulbs but my concern is the fixture does it work well, ballast, timer, moon led.

Don't know the ballast as it doesn't say.

Looks like an Aquatic Life timer, work well but have had issues witht hem going out. Moon/led is simple enough to do DIY that I never base my decision on these. The reflectors are 99% most likely not up to the standards of an ATI or even TEK, which between those and the ballast are the most important.

Gotcha now, yea the moon LED are easy. I have some BLUE SMD that light up pretty great! I was looking at the TEK 4 bulb 48" fixture for my 55g.

4 bulb would be plenty as far as PAR goes but having the 6 bulb will give you more options with bulb combinations and tweaking the color to your liking.

I would go with the 6 bulbs from TEK but being that the width of my tank is 12" I am concern of having light hitting outside the tank. or can I run the TEK 6 bulbs on mine without worrying about it?

Doesn anyone have the TEK 48" 6 bulb in a 55g here??

4 bulbs is plenty on a 55g tank and avoid any of the cheap stuff on Ebay. You will regret it one day.

A 4 bulb Tek Elite is plenty for your tank. Run 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Purple Plus and 1 KZ New Generation.

It will be a nice 12-13k look. White with a little bit of blue. I really like the KZ New Generation over any of the Aquablue bulbs.
