View Full Version : My first Ric in my first tank

Hello all, my tank has been running about a month and a half. I received a green hairy mushroom from a local reef club member. He is starting to split after a couple weeks with me.

It is definately my favorite thing to watch in the tank. I feed him brine shrimp with and he closes up to eat it:

Very nice, not a ric but still a cool mushroom :)

Corals don't need any feeding btw, especially mushrooms, it's a good way to wreck your water quality if you're not very careful with it. Also brine shrimp has minimal nutritive value so not much good on those either way...

Some sort Rhodactis Mushroom I believe!

Oh ok. Thanks much for the reply! I think you are right. After looking on the net, it looks like the Rhodactis indosinensis I see out there. I got confused.

Yes. They can sometimes decide they want a change from sunlight and eat clowns and perching fish. They go for live food as hungrily as they do for the bits of shrimp you are feeding them. So just watch out for that when you are adding livestock.
