OK, I admit I am a noob and have no idea what I am looking at besides a fish in a clear cylinder.

Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 years old how this works and what kind of fish that is?

Purple dinosaur suit is optional. :fun4:

A fish that is a royal pain and mean and terrorized all your other fish named a damsel. I have over 100lbs of rockwork and coral and everything set up in my tank and would HATE to take my whole tank down to catch the thing. So one last ditch effort was to put a trap that has a sliding door on it and when he swims in get the food I put in there after i starved him for a few days i let go of the fishing line in my hand and the door slams shut so he is trapped for easy removal!! Then you flush him :lmao:

I hope your kidding. Someone in your local club or an lfs would gladly take that fish. It's not its fault for doing what it does.

Of course I'm kidding! I dropped him off at the LFS. I debated putting him in the sump but figured he'd have a better life in someone elses tank than in my fuge.

Most people add damsels to their reef, but they are EXTREMELY territorial.
They are also VERY smart and usually do not fall for traps.
Most traps put a meaty food in them then you close the door behind them.
Hope that answers your questions

Fish traps do work!!!!!FTW

it's because deep down inside you didn't really want to catch the fish. Everyone knows if you really really really want to catch em, they don't work.

:P

How long did it take for him to get in there? I have a blue one that I would like to take out.

I put the trap in monday night. then i just left it in there. I fed in the trap yesterday. Then tonight I fed in there again and sat where they couldn't see me for about 20 minutes until I caught him.

This one works too. I did mine with an ocean spray juice bottle for a flame angle but its the same concept. you just have to put the trap in the morning before the lights turn on so when the fish wake up and are hungry they wont mind the strang bottle in the tank

I've had flame angles over the years and had no problems with them. Last year I bought one and it went straight for the clams

Definitely a huge victory! I had to remove a pink face wrasse and the bottle trap worked great!

I have. Same one, several times. I was trying to catch a Clarkii clown, and couldn't keep the stupid yellow tang out of the bottle. It took me 4 evenings of trying to catch the Clarkii, I could have had the Tang in the first go.

It seems like the trap causes a whole lot of stress on the fish it catches. I understand the concept of catching a fish that is difficult to net, but dang, watching vids of fish getting caught... they are not happy...
