What do you guys think about runing:

GFO
carbon
biopellets

while a new tank is cycling with live rock?

Would it be advisable to run any of these from the start or would it be better adding them after the tank has been cycled? I think running a skimmer would be a good idea, but how about the obove?

I agree about the skimmer but the rest of it is a waste of money right now IMO. Assuming a few things:

- You started off with RODI water, so you shouldn't have any phosphates, thus no need for GFO right now.

- Your parameters are going to fluctuate during the cycle anyway, with or without the carbon. Hopefully you're cycling with a raw shrimp or something, and not using fish.

- You are cycling LR or something, thus no need for bio-pellets which are just a pain IMO.

Not cycling the new tank just yet actually. Just planing.
On my last tank I also cycled with just a skimmer. I was thinking any extra filtration could help any unnecessary die off of the organisms on the live rock.

I am cycling my tank and I just decided to turn off my skimmer. My ammonia peaked at only 1.0ppm. I expected it to go much higher. so I figure let me leave as much organics as possible in the water...
