I am considering buying a 180 gallon 72x24x24. I was wondering if I bought 2 36" T5 quad lights at 39 watts per bulb if it would be adequate. I plan on keeping softies and some LPS. I was trying to stay away from MH due to energy use and temp. LED's seem quite high right now I was thinking the price may be more reasonable in a couple of years. Thanks for any thoughts

4 bulbs isn't going to cut it with the 24" front to back. You need at least 6, if not 8 for coverage purposes.

I would look into a good 60" unit with 6 bulbs. A Tek, Tek Elite or ATI Sunpower would work.

thanks for the suggestions I will be checking those out. I thought the guy at the LFS was giving me some bum dope on using the quad lights.
