Aiptasia, which is a type of anemone.

Could also MAYBE be a button polyp. The pic is a little blurry. Poke it. If it almost completely retracts it's an aiptasia.

I have found that the easiest way to get rid of them, especially if there are just a few, is to use a syringe with boiling water - just give it a up close and personal with the syringe and just cook the thing away. There are many other methods - I have always used this one with great success. IMO, the big advantage of this method is no chemicals, and no living thing that will probably starve after it eats them all.

they are BEYOND bad!!! i have tried everything. the boiling water, kalkwasser, peppermint shrimp, aptasia X, everything! the only thing that worked for me was an auriga butterfly. they are not safe with reefs, has nipped at lps's.

I use aptasiaX. It has always worked for me to kill one immedietly. .... I just zap them as soon as I see even one of them.

When you do go to zap it, sneak up slowly on it, and squirt it quickly covering the mouth and base. When it retracts into the rock I fill the hole its in as well. The problem with them is when they sense danger they shoot out spores/babies and then eventually you will see more. Be diligent and you will eventually get rid of them. My advise to you would be to remove the rocks that have aptasia and place them in a temp/qt tank while "zapping" them so that if they do release spores they wont do it in your main tank.
