is this normal, my Torch is at its longest, tentacle wise during the day and at night or early when I wake up while the lights are off it is at its shortest. I have read that at night they should be the longest.
During the day it is nearly 4-5 inches long and at night maybe 1 inch long at most.
is this normal?
Mine behaves the same way - no clue if its normal or not.

What you get at night is sweeper tentacles, most Torch Corals I've ever kept extend the longest during the daylight.

thats the funny part, my sweeper tentacles are during the day not at night lol
I never see the sweepers, on my torch or my galaxia.

from what i have seen on my torch corals, the tentacles are always out during the day (3-4" long depending on the size of the coral)...that is how they collect food and light...during the night i have seen my coral deflate to the point the tentacles are about an inch or so long and then it will inflate a single tentacle to about 8 or so inches long and go to war with anything around it...
as for galaxia, and hydnophoras...they emit a clear filament thread like sweeper, and they can be crazy long...

it is actually a very cool thing to watch a galaxia and a frogspawn fight. I have good pic of both of them attacking the other but cant find it at the moment. I have separated them, and neither have extended sweepers since :)

Mine is always only fully extended when the lights are on as well. In regards to the sweeper tentacles, I lost my first Torch due to my Frogspawn killing it with its sweeper tentacles. I had no clue why it was dying until one night I saw it getting stung from the frogspawn, but it was too late to save it!

Those aren't the sweepers. Those are just the regular tentacles. The sweepers are much longer, thinner, and deadlier.

What makes you think they are not ? They are longer and thin and the others are not they are short and fat

I guess I'm not seeing this long thin sweeper you speak of in that pic. I just see the regular tentacles and one or two that are a little long.
