I have a CS1200 that was upgraded to an 1800. The feed pump is a mag-5 and the skimmer sits outside and above the sump. I would say the output pipe is about 6" above the top of the sump.
The tank is a 150G with 30G sump. The load is light (3 fish, a couple soft corals and half dozen small large polyp hard corals).
I can get a really good column of nice dense foam from the skimmer but the 'bubble' of foam hits the top of the column and never moves over the side. The output on the skimmer is IMO low to say the least, maybe a few ounces a day.
I clean the skimmer with the built in spray, and wipe off the column top daily.
Right now, the output flow control valve is nearly closed and the air input valve is about 1/3 closed.
Any recommendations on what track I should follow to increase the output of this simmer? Maybe a better tune in strategy?
Thanks
Don
