hi, wondering if anyone has any ideas about this. on my system i am only needing to to add small amounts of calc and alk parts but then need to add 15ml of magnesium part and still no raise. mixtures were mixed to the instructions. could i have a bad salt batch or could something in my tank really be consuming that much mag?

Alk 8.5 (seachem salt)
Mag 1160
Calc at 500 thanks to accidental overdose. but still had issues with mag before this.

Hi Damian
I need your salinity also
I cannot help which such low informations
Also i need to know which tests you use.
Balling salts cannot gone bad , The reason why you cannot raise up is a a mismatch between the parameters
With 8,5 alk and 500 Ca it is not possible to raise up the MAG level
but to tell you exactly what to do i need the salinity also

This is a great article that describes the relationship between calcium and alkalinity... it might help you.

hi claude sorry i have had no internet for a while.
salinity is 1.025
things seem to be resolved to an extent. calcium is still high but magnesium and alkalinity are maintaining levels with balling. hopefully the calcium lowers soon. taking a lot longer to lower than expected.
oh and it is salifert test kits. which i have checked against other tests and they are not too far off compared to others.
