Based on the fact that you plan on using red LED's I'm assuming that you plan to use this light over a reef tank? I think you might be a little light on LED's, no pun intended. You can ask Bill in the Reefledlights forum. Great guy to deal with and extremely knowledgeable.

96 3w LEDs running at full power should be enough to keep mostly anything anywhere in the tank.

By the way I really like your heatsink. When I was thinking about DIY I was all about finding a single large heatsink. For DIY where the heatsink is visible it looks better to me than multiple smaller ones (not that they look bad).

Thank you. I think i will put 108 leds on the heat sink. Yes it is a reef tank. I would like to keep any type of coral. I only want to build the leds once. I will be attaching a bracket from the back of my stand to under the back of my canopy.(since the heat sink is 60 lbs) less weight for the side of the tank to hold. I will post pictures of the build.

put in some XPE cool whites for additional spectrum to help with the coral growth if you only have xpg cool whites.

I went with 1 per gallon and have had great results. 210 LED's over my 210 gallon reef and 60 LED's over my 60 gallon sump. I also went with similar heat sinks. But my LED's are not Cree they are Feddy.
